When I was a kid…

Being one minute late meant punishment.
Strict. Swift. No room for error.

So I learned early..
Don’t admit mistakes.
Hide ‘em.
Avoid.
Redirect.

That wiring stayed with me for a long time.

But here’s what I’ve come to realize:

If you don’t own it..
You can’t fix it.

If you pretend it wasn’t your fault..
You lose the opportunity to make it right.

Taking responsibility isn’t shameful.
It’s powerful.

Last week, some webinar emails didn’t go out.
They were supposed to be automated, but they never fired.

It would’ve been easy to throw someone under the bus.
Blame the software.
Or act like nothing happened.

Instead..

I owned it.

Told the client the truth.
Mapped out what went wrong.
And came back with a better plan.

We’re sending the emails manually.
Doubling down on communication.
Even poking a little fun at ourselves in the campaign.

And now?

We’ve got a story.
We’ve got momentum.
And we’ve got trust.

Mistakes happen.

Own them fast.
Fix them well.
And watch how your leadership grows.
