There’s a post going around by Dan Koe about how to fix your life in a day.
It’s good.
Really good.
My wife and I did the exercise yesterday.
And at the end of it, we were angry.
Not at Dan.
Not at each other.
At ourselves.
Which wasn’t what I expected.
It was a gut punch for both of us.
We were angry because it was accurate.
Up until then, it was easy to think we were doing fine.
Busy. Productive. Responsible adults.
Making progress. Checking boxes.
But once you actually slow down and look at how you’ve been showing up..
where you’ve been avoiding decisions,
how you're achieving the wrong goals..
where you’ve been recycling the same patterns..
the mask comes off.
And what’s underneath is clarity clarity.
The kind that’s irritating.
Because you can see exactly how you’ve been getting in your own way. Not in some dramatic, life-ruining way. In small, polite, reasonable ways that add up over years.
Better to know than be ignorant though..
That kind of anger is useful..
Pointed..
Motivating.
It’s the feeling of no longer hiding from the truth.
Once you see it, you can’t pretend you don’t.
And that’s uncomfortable.
But it’s also a relief.
Because now you’re not guessing.
You’re not stuck “trying harder.”
You actually know where the friction is.
And you know what to do to drastically improve your life.
