I've been doing BJJ for about 3 months..

Twice each year they do a party with belt promotions and an in-house tournament.

The idea of doing the tournament scared me.. 
Which is how I knew I had to sign up..

But I resisted..

I told myself that I was new..
I was massively unprepared..
That it didn’t really matter.

But I knew what that was.

It was fear.

So I called in.
Got myself on the list.
Showed up.
Stepped in.

I attacked first.
I didn’t win.
But I did the damn thing.

And when it was over.

The whole gym had watched.
My adrenaline was still pumping.
And all I felt was..

Pride.

Not because I dominated.
But because I entered.

I was in the arena.

And I realized..

That’s been the key to every success in my life 

I put myself out there.
I take the shot.
I help. I build. I show up.

Not always perfectly.
Not always polished.

But I’m in it.

That’s where the growth lives.
That’s where breakthroughs happen.

And that’s how you win.
