To me, it's the continuous transfer of value

You continuously deliver value to your customers and they continuously deliver you monetary value in return.

If you're in the info product world, then you should create a membership site, newsletter or SaaS product.

If you're in the physical product world, a monthly auto-order subscription or box of the month subscription would be excellent for you.
