One aspect of entrepreneurship I did not expect was feeling bad.. a lot.
Prior to stepping into this realm I was more or less constantly running from my feelings.
But as an entrepreneur, where everything falls on me, I'm frequently having to spend time just past the edge of my comfort zone.
Which has required me to confront a lot of stuff from the past that's been holding me back.
I interviewed Gary Coxe recently and he believes that you have to have a high tolerance to emotional pain.
He suggests a very practical way to build emotional resilience.. with a cold plunge!
This resonated with me because I've been taking a cold shower every day for the past year.
This technique gets praised and ridiculed but I'll tell you what it does for me.
Every morning I know that when I'm done with it, I've done something that I didn't want to do.
I didn't let fear own me.
I believe that the repetition of this act builds a stack of wins that carries over into other areas of life and business.
Which increases my tolerance to emotional pain!
Do you agree that this is a valuable asset? I'd love to hear one way or the other.
Also what do to increase the amount of emotional pain you can tolerate?
