It's super easy to head straight to fear when we think of AI taking our jobs.

Understandable. But also a knee-jerk reaction.

Here's an exercise I run on a fear like that.

Take it and blow it out to the furthest logical extreme you can imagine.

Take it faaaaaar out.. as far as you can think.

Imagine this..

We get AI good enough to convincingly approximate empathy and experience.

Good enough to convincingly recount a story that doesn't exist.

A convincing fabrication.

That's the scariest version of this I can build.

And even there, it falls apart.

If you've never felt the terror of war.

If you've never sat in the pit of losing a child.

If you've never carried the frozen anxiety of feeling worthless and undesirable in your own family growing up..

Then no one's gonna care what you approximate.

Most people will reject synthetic empathy.

We're already rejecting convincing AI content now.

We don't trust it.

Trust can't be manufactured through synthesis.

It's earned through what you actually lived.

So if the scariest version of AI still can't touch that.. the job was never really at risk the way the fear made it feel.

Here's what actually is at risk, and it's the part worth your attention.

All we have to do is use AI to increase the chances that the person we're helping actually gets the transformation they came for.

That's the crux of it.

Not "can AI replace what I do."

Whether AI can help make sure the people I help actually get where they're going.

That's the whole reframe.
