The #1 Webinar Email Mistake (and How to Fix It with Smart Tagging)

Ever run a webinar, send out a bunch of emails, and then accidentally blast people who already bought your offer or attended?

Let’s make sure that never happens again.

So, here’s the scenario..

You’ve run your webinar a few times.

Some folks have shown up, some have bought your amazing backend offer, and some haven’t.

Now you want to email the rest of your list about the next session, but you don’t want to annoy people who already bought or already attended this specific round.

To make this happen, we'll need to leverage Contact Tags.

When someone buys your backend offer add a specific tag like 'prod-my-cool-offer'.

Next, tag people who registered for this particular webinar instance with a unique tag... like “wbr-my-cool-trainin-20250916”.. so you know exactly which session they attended.

Then, when you send your broadcast, you filter it by saying “do not send to anyone who has the backend purchase tag” and “do not send to anyone who has the tag for this specific webinar.”

Use a “is not one of” filter so these folks get excluded automatically.

That way, you’re only emailing the right people who still need that nudge to attend or buy.
