I’m reading a book by my friend Matt Fagioli.

It's a great book.. you should buy it.

In one section he talks about not needing to have everything figured out.

He frames it spiritually.. listening for God’s voice for the next step.

And regardless of your spiritual background, that principle matters.

Because most people get stuck trying to see the whoooole damn staircase.

We make lists.
Map five moves ahead.
Try to architect certainty.

And there’s value in planning.

But when you’re building something meaningful.. something risky, purposeful, a little scary.. full clarity rarely comes first.

What usually comes first is a single step.

One action that feels right.
One move that you know you should take.
One conversation.
One feature.
One hard email.
One decision you’ve been avoiding.

Which is a struggle..

Because we want the blueprint.
We want guarantees.
We want to know how it all ends before we commit.

But big work doesn’t unfold that way.

The solution is smaller than we want it to be.

Identify the next step.

Execute it fully.

Then reassess.

In my experience, once you move, something shifts.

Perspective changes.
Options expand.
New information appears.
Past experience is perfectly applied.
A conversation opens up.
An idea clarifies.

The next step reveals itself.

And if you stay in that rhythm.. act, listen, adjust.. momentum builds without you forcing it.

Especially when the work feels high-stakes.

Especially when you’re betting on yourself.

You don’t need the whole path.

You need courage for the step in front of you.

Show up.
Execute.
Wait.
Then go again.

That’s how big things get built.
