Yesterday I ran into one of those fun little moments where a client asks for something the software doesn’t actually do.

“Hey James, can you build gift certificates in ClickFunnels?”

Nope.
ClickFunnels doesn’t have gift certificates.
But… it does have discount codes.

Percentage.
Fixed dollar.
Reusable.
Single-use.

Not the same thing.. but close enough to start thinking.

The first problem was easy:
Sure, we can issue a fixed-amount discount code.
Make it worth $25.
Simple.

But then he added a twist:
He wanted people to buy the gift certificate…
for less than the face value.

Now I’m thinking, “Okay… how do we keep someone from buying a $25 code for $20… and then using that same $25 to buy more $25 codes… endlessly… forever?”

Infinite money glitch.
Not ideal.

So here’s what I did..
and this is where resourcefulness beats features every time:

👉 Create a $25 discount code.
👉 Sell it for $20.
👉 Make a separate purchase page just for the certificates.
👉 Disable coupon fields on that checkout page.
👉 Add clear terms that discount codes can’t be used to buy more codes.

Now the loop is closed.
No abuse.
No loopholes.
Just a clean little gift certificate system running inside CF2..
even though CF2 doesn’t actually have gift certificates.

And this is the thing nobody really talks about:

You don’t need the “perfect” feature.
You don’t need a third-party system.
You don’t need more tools.

You need the ability to look at what’s in front of you
and ask:

“Okay, what can I do with this?”

That’s the whole game.
Resourcefulness over resources.
Always.

This is how you build things other people can’t.
This is how you deliver results even when the software says “No.”
